Are you sure it was VCE? As you can see in your comment, it's working just fine.
It may be the Syntax Highlighter you're using that is causing the problem. Are you using SyntaxHighlighter Plus v1.0b2?

Been trying to work out why updating a post I'm making was causing a 404-not found error and it seems to be vidual Code Editor causing it.

It happens if I use the word substr. Example -

[sourcecode language="php"]
$start = substr($method->name, 0, 5);
[/sourcecode]

If I change substr to be subxxstr it works fine, but I can't make a post with it unchanged.

I'd very much like to use the sound plugin, but I use Jquery. Is it possible to have a version of this that works with Jquery, or just as standalone javascript? I'd rather not load up Prototype/Scriptaculous just for this.

I'm sure there are a lot of Jquery users who would find this helpful.

<a href="#comment-911" rel="nofollow">@Robert Handel</a>
I don't like using packed because of the performance hit imposed on every single page load. It is much better to use a gzipped library, which is cache-able, and does not require unpacking with each page load. Also, packed libraries are nearly impossible to debug.
I'll be posting a new .jgz soon. Stay tuned!
